Large bush that grows into a small tree with pendulous twigs. The nearly black bark is slightly grooved at a later age. The twigs are shiny and dark reddish brown. The scaly, narrow, oval leaves are bright green and have a semi-perfoliate base. Leaves on young twigs are oval and 0.4 - 0.5 cm wide, on older branches much smaller, approx. 0.1 cm. Small pale pink flowers grow in tight clusters, 4 - 6 cm long. The crown leaves fall off quickly, but the 4 stamens remain a long time. After flowering, small capsule fruits containing plentiful seeds appear. This Tamarix is excellently suited for coastal areas. When the plant is not blooming, it bears a superficial similarity to some conifers.
Tamarix tetrandra can eventually reach a height of 4 - 5 m, depending on the site and climate conditions.
Tamarix tetrandra is average growing and can eventually reach a height of 4 - 5 m, depending on the site and climate conditions.
The right time to plant Tamarix tetrandra is during the dormancy period. In Western Europe, Tamarix tetrandra with root balls can generally be planted from mid-November to late April, although this depends strongly on the climatic conditions and the species of tree.
