Large tree with a straight leader and a regular crown shape. Initially the crown is ovoid, spreading later. The tree can grow to a height of 18 m with a diameter of around 12 m. The smooth dark grey bark becomes slightly rough on older trees and flakes off in small plates. The narrow leaf is the same size and colour as the species. In warm areas, the tree is full or partly evergreen whereas it is deciduous in colder regions. In areas where the foliage falls in winter, the autumn colour is light yellow. No more than a third of the small, round acorn is enclosed by the cupule. This cultivar is recommended over the species because of its regular and slightly more slender crown. Prefers to grow on fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Suitable for parks, wide green borders, avenues and car parks.
