The trunk grows more or less straight and forms a narrow pyramidal crown when young. At a later stage it becomes broader. The bark is grey. The dark green leaves are triangular to ovoid and have a grey underside. They are lobed and turn yellowish-green in the autumn. 'Honthorpa' is little sensitive to rust but is certainly sensitive to canker. Can be used in landscapes and for row planting and as a solitary in parks and public gardens.
