Origin
Een door de NAKB (tegenwoordig Naktuinbouw) uit een 40 jaar oude laan geselecteerde boom. Onderscheidend van de soort vanwege de relatief smalle ovale groeiwijze. Kenmerkend is de afschilferende bast met een lichtgroene tot geelgroene ondergrond en grijsgroene, donkergroene tot bruine loslatende delen. Het brede blad heeft 3 - 5 spits getande lobben en is aan de onderzijde licht behaard. In de herfst kleurt het bruingeel. Afgevallen blad verteert slecht. De bolvormige bloeiwijzen hangen in paren (1 - 3) aan lange stelen waaraan ook de stekelige vruchten verschijnen. Deze blijven tot ver in de winter in de boom hangen. Plataan verdraagt verharding uitermate goed maar oppervlakkige wortels kunnen verharding opdrukken. Verdraagt snoei, zelfs tot in het oude hout. Jonge aanplant verlangt een boompaal. Jonge takken zijn breukgevoelig.
