Fraxinus excelsior 'Crispa' is a very slow-growing, compact tree which is usually grafted on a standard or half-standard tree. The crown is very compact and wide ovoid. Mature specimen can attain a height of 3 - 5 m. The leaf is compound and odd-pinnate. The leaves are densely positioned and are curly. 'Crispa' does not have flowers and does not bear fruits. This outstanding cultivar is very useful in small gardens. Prefers moist, rich soil. Fairly wind resistant. Winter hardiness zone: 4
