Low, broad shrub if grafted onto a stem, with widely overhanging branches. The leaf segments of the palmate leaves are deeply dissected. The young shoots are reddish bronze, rapidly changing through various phases to green with slightly bronze-tinted leaf tips. In autumn, the leaf takes on spectacular colours. It first turns yellow and then goes from orange to vivid red.
