Low, broad shrub, with widely overhanging branches if grafted onto a stem. The leaves are palmate and the leaf segments are also dissected nearly to the main veins. The growth pattern and leaf shape are typical characteristics of the “Dissectum” group, to which ‘Pink Filigree’ belongs. On emerging, the leaves are pinkish red with yellow veins. In summer the leaf is a dark, purplish red and forms an attractive background to the lighter coloured, young shoots. The autumn colour is dark orange-red. ‘Pink Filigree’ resulted from a hybridisation of Acer palmatum ‘Ornatum’ and ‘Stella Rossa’.
